Labradors are a lovely long standing breed very much man’s best friend. The old saying goes, a lab is born half trained and a cocker dies half trained. It’s not far wrong. A biddable breed that loves to please loyal and you know exactly what you’re getting. Food motivated yes always and often over keen as babies they are a lovely breed of dog. We only use working lines in our breeding never show. We find the show dogs are heavier and less trainable as the concentration is on how they look. We are more interested in their temperament, health and trainability.
Although the majority of our Labradors go to pet homes many go on to be fully trained Gundogs or other specialist roles. We need the trainability to be in the breeding for either role. Working labs are smaller which enables them to work better over difficult ground and more muscular. We breed black , yellow and red labs. ( all red labs are registered as yellow it’s just dark yellow)
Puppy Buying Process
We hip, elbow and BvA eye test our labs. Many also have DNA profiling or are hereditary clear. Details of these health tests are available on the kennel club health checker. We have litters throughout the year and in almost every litter there will be pups staying to be fully trained for clients. We have access to some of the best training grounds in Scotland. An all weather training surface and a large indoor purpose built training area.
